Vidya Pratishthan is the pride of Baramati and an ode to her future. Conceptualized and developed by Shri Sharad Pawar and Shri Ajit Pawar, Vidya Pratishthan promises to make quality education accessible to children from all socio-economic strata, and empowers rural youth through general and technical education. Carved out of what was once a desolate, rocky landmass, Vidya Pratishthan’s beautiful campus is spread over 156 acres and serves close to 23,000 students each day.
The campus is home to 25 distinct educational institutions, each helmed by an accomplished scholar from it’s field. Each institution is also equipped with it’s own library filled with relevant books, periodicals, and journals, as well as it’s own auditorium, replete with an LCD projector to facilitate new and interactive teaching methods.
The Janvastu Sangrahalaya is a museum dedicated to the inspiring life and work of Shri Sharad Pawar and houses a large collection of historically relevant photography for students to enjoy. The lush and serene Nakshatra Garden is also open for students to use for work during the day or relax after a long day of classes.
An environmentally conscious institution, Vidya Pratishthan introduces its students to sustainable living practices from the day they arrive. They use recycled water to maintain their lush campus, and have a water harvesting system that collects between 3-5 lakh litres and filters 1 lakh litres, each day. Furthermore, their vermicomposting program has helped them enhance soil fertility and sustainably dispose of the massive amount of waste generated on campus. Vidya Pratishthan's presence in the region has already catalyzed a change in the attitudes and aspirations of its surrounding communities. It will no doubt continue to push the wheel of progress forward, one child at a time.
